How It All Started
Founded by a specialist with over a decade of hands-on experience in the antiques field, Ottoman Maps was established to bring scholarly depth and market expertise to the world of rare books, maps, and prints. After operating independently for many years, our founder and CEO formalized this long-standing practice into a dedicated institution focused on historically significant paper works.
Drawing on ten years of continuous engagement with collectors, libraries, and the international antiquarian market, Ottoman Maps is guided by a commitment to authenticity, careful research, and responsible dealing. Each item is selected for its historical, cultural, and cartographic value, with particular attention given to provenance and condition.
Today, Ottoman Maps serves collectors, researchers, and institutions seeking trustworthy access to rare and meaningful works on paper, continuing a tradition built on knowledge, precision, and respect for history.

Kaan Mustafa Görgün
Founder/CEO

With over ten years of experience in the antiques trade, the Founder and CEO of Ottoman Maps plays a central, hands-on role in the company, overseeing the curation and evaluation of rare books, maps, and prints through careful historical and bibliographic research.
Prior to establishing Ottoman Maps, he worked in cultural tourism, designing and leading numerous tours across both Turkey and Europe. This experience deepened his engagement with the history of places and narratives of geography, naturally fostering a lasting interest in books, maps, and prints as primary sources that document these journeys through time.
He works directly with collectors, institutions, and fellow dealers, building long-term relationships based on trust and expertise. Guided by the principle that “nothing is as it appears”, he approaches each object with critical attention, valuing context and provenance over surface impressions. Through this focused involvement, he defines the vision and standards of Ottoman Maps as a reliable and intellectually grounded presence in the field of antiquarian works on paper.
